If you are questioning your abortion decision, you are not alone. We’re here to help. Some women who have taken the abortion pill experience regret. Abortion Pill Reversal is a medical procedure available to reverse the effects of the first abortion pill (mifepristone) by interrupting the process. At the ABC Life Choices, we offer the procedure at no cost to you.
The abortion pill is actually 2 pills. The first pill (mifepristone) blocks progesterone – a hormone needed for developing a healthy baby. The second pill (misoprostol) is usually taken 36-72 hours later, expels the embryo.
If you have taken the first pill which blocks progesterone, taking the Aborion Pill Reversal will increase progesterone, a natural hormone in a woman’s body that is necessary to nurture and sustain a pregnancy. The Abortion Pill Reversal is most effective if taken within 24 – 48 hours after ingesting the first pill – mifepristone. However, there have been many successful outcomes up to 72 hours after taking the first pill.
If you are interested in started the reversal procedure, please call our Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline today at 877-558-0333. For more information, go to: www.abortionpillreversal.com.
No, it is always your choice to change your mind. Even if you have started the chemical abortion process, reversal may still be a choice for you.
No. Spotting or bleeding is common during reversal treatment. It’s important to have an ultrasound to confirm that your baby is in the uterus as soon as possible. We will provide a no-cost ultrasound to you when you begin the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) treatment at the ABC Life Choices.
The second medication is called misoprostol or Cytotec. Its purpose is to cause the uterus to contract and expel the baby. You should not take the Misoprostol/Cytotec if you want to try to reverse the chemical abortion.
First, contact our APR hotline at (877) 558-0333. The on-call nurse will determine if the reversal is possible through asking a few basic questions. You will then be contacted by our Clinic to start treatment as soon as possible. If you are outside of our service area, the nurse will connect you to the closest medical provider in your area.
To start treatment, we will give you an ultrasound as soon as possible to confirm heart rate, placement, and dating of the pregnancy. Our medical provider will then prescribe progesterone, given as a pill to be taken orally. The treatment will usually continue through the first trimester of pregnancy.
APR has a 64-68% success rate. Without the APR treatment, mifepristone may fail to abort the pregnancy on its own. In other words, your pregnancy may continue even without APR if you decide not to take misoprostol, the second abortion drug likely prescribed or provided to you when you took mifepristone. APR has been shown to increase the chances of allowing the pregnancy to continue. However, the outcome of your particular reversal attempt cannot be guaranteed.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in its Practice Bulletin Number 143, March 2014, states that: “No evidence exists to date of a teratogenic effect of mifepristone.” In other words, it does not appear that mifepristone, RU-486, causes birth defects. Progesterone has been safely used in pregnancy for over 50 years, with no record of defects caused by progesterone. The progesterone used in our treatment is the same that is made in a woman’s body.
Progesterone may cause sleepiness, lack of energy, light-headedness, dizziness, gastrointestinal discomfort and headaches. Increased fluid intake might help relieve these symptoms.
If you are allergic to wild yams, sesame oil, sesame cream, ethyl oleate or peanut oil, notify our medical professionals before beginning APR. We will prescribe an alternative form of progesterone for you.
At the ABC Life Choices, the cost of the treatment is free to our patients. Other providers may charge for this procedure, so it’s important when calling our APR hotline that you review your provider options with the nurse.

A: Absolutely. You can bring your boyfriend, family member, or friend. We will talk with you privately first. Then, provided you have given us consent to have them in the room, your guest will be able to join you.
A: You’ll be welcomed by our receptionist who will introduce you to your client advocate. She will listen to you judgment-free and provide you with information followed by a pregnancy test. Should your test be positive, one of our caring medical professionals will conduct a limited ultrasound to confirm if you have a viable pregnancy and date fetal age.
A: Our tests can be performed 7 to 10 days after conception. A client with a negative result may be invited to return within 2 weeks for a repeat test if she has not had her period.
If you have taken a home pregnancy test, it is best to confirm results with a laboratory-quality test at our center.
A: We adhere to a strict privacy and confidentiality policy. Clients will be protected from disclosure of information that violates the right to privacy except when required by law, required for public health reasons, required to avert a threat of harm to the client or a third person, or when other circumstances may reasonably warrant such use or disclosure without prior authorization (e.g., abuse reporting, suicide/homicide prevention, etc.).
A: Our professional, medical-grade lab quality pregnancy test can determine pregnancy at the first day after your first missed period. We recommend you make an appointment if you have missed a period, have any pregnancy related questions, or think you might be pregnant.
A: On-site ultrasounds are available after an initial intake with one of our client advocates. Our limited ultrasound exams are performed by a licensed nurse sonographer or RDMS (registered sonographer) and reviewed by a licensed physician. An ultrasound confirms a viable pregnancy and determines how far along you are. To qualify for a limited ultrasound, you’ll need to be a minimum of 6 weeks since your last menstrual period.
A: You can still meet with a member of our staff to discuss your concerns and review available options. An ultrasound is recommended to know if your pregnancy is viable and in your uterus, since 20% – 25% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. Additionally, the ultrasound will show how far along you are to determine what type of abortion you would choose. We can provide a limited ultrasound at no cost to you.
